WHY IS PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE SERVICE NECESSARY?
Preventive Maintenance Service (PMS) is essential to the proper function of your Lighting Equipment; it is aimed at the prevention of breakdowns and failures. PMS is conducted to keep equipment working and/or extend the life of your Lighting Equipment. Without PMS, for example, costs for lost production time from unscheduled equipment breakdown will be incurred. Also, PMS will result in savings due to an increase of effective system service life.
The primary goal of PMS is to prevent the failure of equipment before it actually occurs. PMS activities include complete equipment inspection, during these inspections, proper operation of the equipment is checked and verified. It is designed to preserve and enhance equipment reliability by replacing worn components before they actually fail.
All Lighting Equipment is designed to operate within certain limits, and if not properly maintained, the equipment will exceed its design limitations with the result being equipment failure. If PMS is not performed regularly (at least 1-2 times a year), the equipment will require extensive and costly repairs at a later date. This is not just a case of "pay me now or pay me later. " It is a case of "pay me now or pay me considerably more, later," and loses reliability in the process.
